The Hinton Stingrays Junior Lifesaving Club (JLC) took 12 athletes to a competition in Drayton Valley Feb. 20 and had great success.

Every swimmer that competed had at least one top two finish over the course of the competition. There were only two boys who attended the meet, but they both had great results. Carter Gorzitza finished in first in all four of his events and Jacob Stratton almost matched him with three first place finishes and one second place finish. Unfortunately for the boys there wasn't enough members to put a team together for the relay races. The girls also had great results at the swim meet. Jenna Kutash finished with two first place finishes and two second place finishes in her four events. Mackenzie McDonald had matching results with two first and two second place finishes.

Victoria Gorzitza the youngest girl at the meet for Hinton finsihed with two first place finishes, a second and fifth place. Taylor Roylance, who was competing in the same division as McDonald, finished right behind her teammate in two events to come second place. Roylance also had a first and fifth place finish in her events.

Sierra Fredsberg and Alexandra Bohn were also in the same division. Fredsberg had three third place finishes and one second place. Her teammate Bohn was right behind her with two fourth and one fifth place finish. In the relay Fredsberg, Bohn, Kutash and Mackenzie McDonald had a first place finish. Teammates Janell Uden, Katie Kenworthy, McDonald and Roylance also had a first place finish in their relay race. The last team in the relay race saw Maddie Jones, Fredsberg, Gorzitza and Kutash come in second place.

The Stingrays also set provincial records at the meet McDonald broke the record in the 100 metre line throw and Stratton broke the record in the 50m tow with fins.
